This year, Take Your Dog to Work Day, an occasion that dates back to 1999, is taking place on Friday, June 21st. The purpose of this day (some might even call it a “holiday”) is to celebrate and support local pet shelters, pet adoptions, and pet communities. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to bring their best friend to work for a day? It’s another bonus to an otherwise already great cap on your work week!
As fun as it may be, it’s a good idea to be prepared.
PET-PROOF YOUR OFFICE
Before letting Fido loose in the office, take some time to consider what exactly you’re getting into, what could go wrong, and what you can do to prevent it. Think of everything and leave no “stone” unturned while prepping your office for the arrival of furry guests. Here are some things to think about:
- Exposed electronics (cords, etc.)
- Other employees’ personal spaces
- Other furry friends that may be in attendance
- Regular day-to-day business guests that could be present
HAVE CLEANING TOOLS ON HAND
As a proud pet owner, you’ve likely seen enough to let you know that this one is a certified no-brainer. Accidents can happen at any time, and without warning, so it’s a good idea to keep some basic pet clean-up supplies such as a mop, paper towels, and stain-removal spray on-hand and near-by. Having a quick exit strategy in the event of emergencies doesn’t hurt, either!
