“Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out, said Chet Pharies, Carpet Tech owner
“It is consistent hard work that allows you to achieve and accomplish in life.” “I just have a burning desire to make Carpet Tech
and our employees into something that just absolutely sets us apart from anything anybody has ever experienced,” he said.
“That's who we are. That's who we strive to be every day.”
From humble beginnings and heartache, Carpet Tech, a family-owned and operated business, has grown over the past 25 years, but the company’s mission is still the same- serving people. The Lubbock, Texas, based company is owned by Chet and Melinda Pharies, but originally, Carpet Tech was started by Chet’s older brother Chad.
“He began the carpet cleaning business in order to make money to get himself through college,” said Chet. “He just started cleaning carpet in between classes, on weekends and after hours. My brother was always my hero, but as I watched him continue to grow his business my admiration became even greater.”
Tragically in December of 1995, Chet and his family's lives changed forever. His older brother Chad, at the age of 23, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away September the following year. When Chad was too ill to continue with his carpet cleaning business, the family sold the minivan to a fireman in Lubbock while younger brother Chet graduated high school and accepted a scholarship to play football at Texas Tech.
“I was devastated,” said Chet. “I quit school, quit football, and had absolutely no direction.” But, as fate would have it, it was not long before the fireman who bought Chad’s carpet cleaning van called and offered the Pharies family the chance to purchase it back. “We jumped on the opportunity and Carpet Tech was reborn in 1996,” said Chet.
In the beginning, Chet had no plans to grow the business; it was just something to keep busy, but then he began to dream. “I wanted to finish what my brother started using his vision as the foundation for Carpet Tech,” said Chet. “My brother Chad built Carpet Tech on honesty, integrity, and customer service, and I had a plan to continue his legacy.”
With long hours, determination, and a lot of hard work, Chet began to grow the business in order to bring honor to his brother’s memory. And now, over two decades later, Carpet Tech has expanded its services and locations while maintaining the brother’s original goal: to serve people with integrity.
“Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out, said Chet. “It is consistent hard work that allows you to achieve and accomplish in life.”
“I just have a burning desire to make Carpet Tech and our employees into something that just absolutely sets us apart from anything anybody has ever experienced,” he said. “That's who we are. That's who we strive to be every day.”
Chet and his wife Melinda are grateful for their team, and customers who they consider family, too. “Our people are our company, and without them, we don't exist.”
Carpet Tech has grown by building relationships and serving customers with excellence and integrity. With offices located in Lubbock, Amarillo, Odessa, Collin County, Clovis, and a sixth office opened in 2022 in San Angelo, Carpet Tech is able to service the South Plains, Panhandle, the Concho Valley, the Greater DFW area, and Eastern New Mexico. Carpet Tech is the most recognized cleaning and restoration company in the region.
